Wheew, work is piling on my desk, and then there are parties and short trips to Munich and some other things that keep me away from blogging.
Anyway, I’ve just finished compiling some empirical data on the dynamics of politicial attitudes in Germany; the professor I’m working for right now asked me to check a claim he’s making in an article: public opionion and public political attitudes have become more dynamic over the last decades, mainly due to "medialization".
So the last days I’ve wrestled with aggregate data of the "Politbarometer" and found out that there indeed is a tendency of increasing volatility (e.g., the differences between the monthly measures of average "popularity" of parties are increasing over time). Hooray! … Alas, it seems to be a very small increase, so no groundbreaking results so far….
Next thing on my to do list: Finishing a paper on "Public Internet Access Points and the Digital Divide"; I’ve presented some results on the German Online Research Conference earlier this year (blogged impressions here and have to expand the presentation to an english article by September 19th… And then there’s a project I’m working on with Thomas Burg. So expect rather light blogging the next days…
