I’ve just submitted an abstract for a presentation at the German Online Conference 2005, to be held in Zürich in March 2005. The GOR is the leading conference for Internet Research in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria, and it is increasingly attracting a crowd of other international researchers and practitioners. Traditionally, the conferences bring together both the academic and the commercial worlds of online research, which is quite interesting. I’ve already presented twice, in 2002 and 2004, so hopefully I will make it a third time.

I proposed to talk about “Blogging as social action – the trias of practice, rules and relations”. The paper will mainly be about my theoretical framework for analysing Blogging as an dynamic interplay of individual “Blogging episodes” and two kinds of structures, namely rules and relations/networks. I’d also like to include findings from my planned four-month research trip to Krems/Vienna (still waiting for the DAAD money, though…), so expect some interesting developing of ideas coming up the next weeks.. :)

There are two more conferences I’d like to attend/present at:

- The annual conference of the German Association of Communication Science (DGPuk), to be held in Hamburg in May 2005 - general topic “Quality of Media”

- The “2nd International Conference on Communities and Technologies”, Milano, June 2005. This sound particularly interesting:
The relationship between communities and technology is an increasingly important research topic as the number of communities turning to technology for online and face-to-face support grows. The Second International Conference on Communities & Technologies (C&T 2005) conference provides a forum for stimulating and disseminating research about all facets of community and technology support for communities.

So I guess I’ll write two more proposals..

And, of course, I’d love to see the abstract :)

Btw, thinking about C&T as well. As far as I remember it requires full paper (in 6 weeks :)… Btw, I’m thinking on writing on blog communities, so may be we should team up… Email me if you are interested…
