Am 23.5. findet in Edinburgh der “3rd annual workshop on the weblogging ecosystem” statt, eine der wichtigsten Veranstaltungen der Weblogforschung. Die Vorträge der beiden vorangegangenen Workshops in New York und Chiba haben wichtige Grundlagen der quantitativen Analyse der Blogosphäre gelegt; die diesjährige Veranstaltung sieht ebenfalls sehr spannend aus. Aus der Workshop-Beschreibung:
The weblogging community continues to evolve: weblogs are gaining more and more exposure, the number of bloggers continues to grow and the contribution of individual bloggers is becoming significant and compelling. The dynamics of the blogosphere, found in trackbacks, citation links, blog-rolls, comments, tags, shared topics and interests provides a facinating domain of study for researchers from all academic and commercial fields including text mining, social network analysis, computational linguistics, business and marketing intelligence, libarary sciences, taxonometrics, graph theory and data visualization.
Im Vorfeld des diesjährigen Workshops hat Blogpulse einen großen Datensatz allen interessierten Forschern zur Verfügung gestellt. Die nun vorliegenden Paper klingen alle recht interessant, es geht z.B. um eine quantitative Beschreibung der persischen Blogosphäre, eine Analyse von Spam Blogs bzw. “Splogs”, oder zur Reaktion der Blogosphäre auf die Bombenattentate in London im Sommer 2005. Viel Lesestoff also!
