ICA 06: Castells and Habermas

The two keynote speakers at the ICA conference are Manuel Castells and Jürgen Habermas. During Castells’ speech this afternoon Habermas quietly sneeked into the conference hall and seated himself on the corner of the audience.

It’s nice to be in the same room with two such great contemporary theorists, although it doesn’t quite beat the story my former professor Heckmann told us (ignorant) students in my first semester: During a World Sociology Conference in the early Nineties he shared the sauna with Norbert Elias… :)
