Blogtalk Reloaded will start tomorrow, and today we had kind of an early-bird-meeting at the Cafe Urania. About 20 people showed up, mostly people who are going to present during BT - a great opportunity to talk, socialize and mingle..
Right now I’m sitting at a bagle place with free Wi-Fi somewhere on Margaretenstraße, together with my two graduate students Martin and Matthias who will assist us at the conference. Earlier today we visited the “Musikkiosk” (formerly known as the “Der Stand der Wurst“) to have dinner (Wurst of course) and to watch the outcome of the austrian general election. The right wing nuts of FPÖ and BZÖ gained votes, but the real winner are the social democrats who won against all forecasts by the professional political surveyists. Funny thing: Earlier today I came by the central ‘election party site” near the Burgtheater, where they had a big billboard announcing a new play “Höllenangst” [Afraid as hell] right next to the SPÖ tent - I guess they are pretty relieved by now..
Who is afraid right now?
A pity Haider’s party wasn’t completely wiped out but you can’t have everything I guess.
