BlogTalk reloaded is over, and my head is overflowing with the impressions and discussions I had during the last days. It will probably take a good while to digest everything, not the least because over the last seven days I actually took part in four events (Medien 2.0, Barcamp Vienna, BT reloaded and a workshop with the spokesman of Telekom Austria). While they all dealt with “the current new internet”, they brought together quite different crowds and triggered all sorts of different conversations and encounters. Amazing!
Anyway, for now I just want to mention a couple of points I’d do better the next time (since Thomas is in “heavy recovery mode” as well, it will actually take a while for us to think about whether and when there will be a next BT):
- Have the lunch break earlier than 13.45 on the first day. Since I designed the schedule, all the stomach grumbling some people had to endure was my fault - I apologize! I wanted to prevent the sort of “post-lunch decline” in attention, but it actually wasn’t a very good idea.
- Make a list of all the participants’ names available, at least as a print-out. We encouraged people to create a Wiki page, and while a good number did, it was not possible to know who attended.
- Take care that the Grad Students who assisted us (Martin, Matthias, and Dennis) will get to be known by their real names and not by “Blogtalk slaves 1, 2, 3″ - this came up at the pre-meeting on sunday (not by me, I have to emphasize! :))) and somehow stuck… Seriously, the three of you did a great job (and from talking to you I know that you enjoyed the conference), thanks a lot!!
There is probably a lot more that could have been better; we will have a short evaluation survey online within the next days so everyone who attended the conference can give us feedback - and we will provide a section of the feedback survey for people who didn’t come so we can get an impression of that as well (too expensive? bad timing? uninteresting programme? other reasons?). It will be announced on the wiki and in the various blogs, so keep your eyes open.. ![]()
The conference and everything that came along with it was great!! I enjoyed our time there very very much and I’m looking forward to the “post-discussions”. As long as it is possible, I’m definately going to take part in the next blogtalk.
